Lil Wayne - Mirror
Purpose
The song Mirror by Lil Wayne is about his past and how he has been hurt and still is. The video tells the audience what it is about and the lyrics said by Wayne expresses that. He comes across violent in the video to express the hurt that he has experienced and so then the audience get to know what he is like. To prove that he is violent he splatters paint aggressively on the wall to express this. This is why the video and the lyrics connect because the two combined express Wayne's aggression and what he is trying to implement. Another way the lyrics and the video connect is because Wayne tells the audience how he has been affected and dark things have happened in the past to show this he paints a huge picture of himself with red blood everywhere, the red suggests badness and so this connects with the lyrics.
Form
Lil Wayne in the video wants to tell the audience everything and how he was hurt and so the video last around 4 minutes. In the video there is a lot of repetition to emphasise how badly his past has been and that it cannot change sooner or later. The video is live with a lot of movements contained within it.

Content

In the video there are many verses which mean a lot and Wayne wants the audience to understand. An example is when he says "scars that remain" which tells us he was a criminal and that he won't forget that. Wayne also tells us how there is another side to himself and that the real side is fake, an example to represent this is when he says "see the pain hidden within your pride". This is telling us how him being a criminal and a bad person has meant he is in pain and is struggling. The video sums up how he feels and that he has been hurt a lot in the past and the way we can notice as an audience is by the tone of his voice and the shots taken in the video. The colour red featured in the video shows the hate and bad things he has gone through and done in his life. It also hints the idea of his life being dark and no one was there to help him through the rough times he had faced. He mentions how he never saw his dad and so this tells us he may of not followed his dad and became another person. The lyrics are not the only thing that tell the audience what Wayne is trying to say but the tattoos on his body are put in close to allow the audience to see what they are. the tattoos are about him and his life, there are many words and phrases and also pictures on his body which represent him as a person. Wayne also continuously throws red paint on the wall to show hate and anger which he has faced, and he does this in front of a mirror so he can see what he has done. The mirror also allows wayne to take a moment and look at himself and see what he has gone through
Meaning
As i mentioned there are a lot of close ups in the video so the audience know and can see what is happening but the main shot is the use of hand held shots. This type of technique is used in the video and happens at a fast pace. The use of fast shots may suggest a lot has happened to Wayne and the fastness may represent this. The use of wide shots used in the video may of been used to show everything in the video which can relate to Wayne showing us his whole life. The short takes in the video may be done to show the audience changes which happen in the video and changes which Wayne is doing. In the video Misc en scene is used and an example is when the lighting changed between dark and dim. The dark is showing us his past and suggest it has not been good whereas the dim may suggest he is starting to make a change and wants to forget about the bad things. The show of tattoos is also part of the misc en scene as it symbolises who he is and the tattoos also signify the genre.

Genre
The song Mirror by Lil Wayne is in the genre category of Hip Hop/Rap and in the song you can tell that, there is a mixture of the two genres. At most parts Wayne is rapping and saying verses which are deep and have a lot of meaning to them.
Intended Audience
From seeing the video i can tell that the song is not suitable for young kids as the language used is complex and hard to understand what Wayne is trying to express. It also is not suitable for them as there is explicit language used and the imagery is not compatible with their viewing. The song is intended to older teenagers and young adults as what Wayne says would be understandable with the age group. Wayne talks about his struggles and his past and so this relates to the young adults and teens as they may face the same problems in life and so understanding Lil Wayne may be easy for them. Wayne in the song is trying to address a message about how life has changed for him and how it was not easy and so young teens and adults face similar problems, this is why i believe the song is intended to these type of people.

Akon - Lonely
Purpose

The song Lonely by Akon has a purpose and it is about how Akon is lonely and thinks about this girl but is finding it hard to get with her. It is trying to show how real life relationships are complex and we can tell this by the video. The video is also saying how being lonely can affect you in the long term and Akon expresses that by the way he has shot the video. The reason why the video and lyrics connect is because Akon proves this in the video and the words he uses. He repeatedly says he is lonely and in the video he is in a hall by himself which relates well. The reason why the video has a strong meaning is because the lyrics and video match and can be understood easily by the audience. Near the end the video quietens down and so does akon when it comes to the lyrics and this is because he wants to show he has given up and the video footage also slows down and cuts repeatedly to Akon in the hall and just him.
Form
The video Lonely by Akon last around 4 minutes 20 seconds and during this time he sings about how he is lonely and a lot of repetition is used as well as different shots of the same scene to express his feelings. The video is live and is recorded using high quality equipment equipment and location, which is inside a hall where he sits by himself to show how lonely he is.
Content
Genre
The song Lonely by Akon is in the a mix of categories which shows he has variety, he is part of R&B/ POP and Reggae. During the music video you can tell that, the different genres are included by the way Akon changes his voice and blends each other in.

Intended Audience
The song is about being lonely and i personally believe that everyone at different ages can be affected by this but the situation Akon is in is about a love relationship and so i would aim this audience at young adults as they can have big break ups like Akon faces in the video. The lyrics he uses can relate to young adult life and how someone can miss someone and want them back. The reason why i have not aimed this at a younger category is because i believe it is different to how adult relationships are in the sense that, adults have more realisation of how relationships work.

Adele - When we were young
Purpose

The purpose of the song "when we were young" by Adele is about her life and what has happened to her. She is trying to explain everything that has gone on and expresses her body language to show this. In the video Adele is sending a message to the viewers on how when your young you can do things which you should not do and is saying how when you are young you make mistakes. The reason why the video and lyrics connect well is because Adele repeats the line "when we were young" many times in the song and in the video her group of friends are shown and they are all old now. She is trying to show how they had good times when they were young and now they are going up quick and all the fun is going between them.
Form
The song lasts around 5 minutes 30 seconds and in the video the meaning of the song relates to the location she has shot the song in. She only has a mic and is standing by herself. She sues different techniques in order to show she has been hurt and the audience can notice this at some stages.
Content
The song Adele has made can be seen from different views, many people will think different of what the song actually means. The true meaning of what Adele is trying to say is that, she had a relationship when she was young and things did not go as she wanted. She mentions how she regrets wanting to get older as she wants to go back to being young and relive her life so she can make it better. The song is part of the album 25 which she made and the number 25 may suggest how she wants to go back to that age and change things. Throughout the video Adele also provides hints for this and explains why in some of the lyrics she says. In the lyrics Adele says "oh i'm so mad i'm getting old", this lyric tells us how she does not want to get older and facing more problems as she gets older. The location where this video is shot really connects to the meaning of the song. Adele and her friends all join together and they are her old friends which have grown up.Adele uses a lot of expressions such as a lot of hand movement to show how much it really means to her and in some parts it looks like she's going to breakdown as she is so hurt.

Genre
The song which Adele released is in the soul music category, and this makes sense because soul music generally has a rhythm to it and in the video you can notice this as well.
Intended Audience
This video is aimed at older people as in older adults. I personally think this is the correct age group because Adele is an old adult and she talks about how she wants to go back to being young because of the mistakes made. This is like normal people and they may face the same situation as Adele has in the past. Adele just explains in the video how she is always remembering the past and says "it was a movie" and this may suggest that, she went through a lot and in the short space of time a lot happened.
